Windows Home Server
What is required to run Windows Home Server Beta 2?
1) A 1 Ghz CPU (pretty low specs, but faster is ok).
2) 512 Megabytes of RAM memory.
3) A video adapter, onboard or add-on that supports 1024x768 resolution.
4) Keyboard and mouse (only required for installation).
5) For the beta a DVD drive for the installation
6) A 100 Mbps hardwired Ethernet connection to your home LAN (it will work with wireless clients).
7) Hard disk storage, sufficient to backup the PC's on your LAN. A minimum of 80 Gig of storage is recommended, and more is better. Your requirements will vary with what you need to backup on your LAN.
8) Sound cards, and all that stuff don't matter. This is designed to be installed on a PC that just sits there and does what its supposed to do.
9) You do need to ensure that you have Windows Server 2003 drivers (most Windows XP drivers will work) for your particular hardware (beta testers).
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you install a hard disk into a Windows Home Server machine before the original WHS installation, it will be formatted!! So make sure if you're using an older hard disk, you have everything you want off of it!!
