Disable XP's Media Player Recent File List

mediaplayer_mru_off.vbs - Prevents additions to the Recent Files List

This is a Visual Basic Script file which will modify your system Registry to prevent the addition of files to Media Player's Recent Files list. This script is a per user setting and must be run for each user you wish to have this feature disabled. Files already on the Recent Files list will still be displayed.

To use: Download the mediaplayer_mru_off.vbs file and save it to your hard drive. Double-click the mediaplayer_mru_off.vbs file and enter the information as you desire. Close and restart IE, if its open.

This script work only with Windows XP and Windows Media Player 8.
